What is the best way for parents and children to bond?

First, in my years of experience working with children, teens, and families, I have seen both sides. Yes, children can be mischievous and frustrating. But, with love and help along the way, they grow into beautiful souls who can change the world.

In the past, I have worked for the department of children and families across the state of Connecticut. In previous jobs, I ran and conducted professional trainings on attachment disorders in children.

Sometimes, children have trouble attaching because they have issues reading emotions. For instance, some children may laugh when another child is crying. Normally, children will become sad when they see another child who is crying. Other times, children may need to feel safe and nurtured before trusting an adult.

In this article, you’ll find a few tips for bonding as a family this summer of 2019!

Get outside

First, getting outside can help you and you child connect in a fun way. Go collect sea shells on the beach together. Or, swim out to a raft tasting the salty ocean air in your mouth while laughing together. The best bonding in parents and children is based on loving emotions and real experiences.

Play a board game like Monopoly

Children, adolescents, and families alike love the feeling of buying property, having their own stash of money, and getting excited about asking for rent. Besides the game of monopoly, playing together can create fun, family bonding, and playfulness. Even if you are stressed, a fun monopoly game can help you and your family feel connected, brighter, and see the joy in the little moments of life.
